Boarding

While choristers at many choir schools are day pupils, there are still some that require all choristers to be boarders or offer a choice if parents can demonstrate they can get their children to and from school in time for choir practice and services.

Many parents are reluctant to explore the possibility of boarding which is a pity as a boarding chorister really does have an excellent chance to make long-lasting friendships with other children who share their interests.

These days boarders often come from within a small radius of the school enabling their parents to be more actively involved.

For some families boarding can actually enhance family life by eliminating the stress of the daily school run – traffic, parking and remembering kit and homework.

Please don’t be put off by misconceptions about boarding. You will find 21st century boarding schools have lots of home comforts and are lively, fun places to be. Go and see for yourself.
