Runnymede St Edward’s Catholic Primary School for Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral

Runnymede St Edward’s is the junior choir school to Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. Boy and girl choristers sing around four choral services each per week during term time.

Voice trials for children in Year 2 to audition for places as boy and girl choristers take place in the Spring and Summer Term each year. Probationers begin in September of Year 3 attending Runnymede St Edward’s Catholic Primary School, before moving to St Edward’s College in Year 7. All choristers are day pupils and receive assistance towards vocal and instrumental lessons.

This means that a first class Catholic chorister education for boys and girls in Liverpool is available at no cost.

The choristers lead a very busy life! At Runnymede, the choristers take part in early morning rehearsals (8am) to prepare the music of the weekly services and for many other special services and concerts. They also carry out their normal school activities, both academic and extra-curricular, as well as receiving vocal and instrumental tuition. Many former choristers have gone on to pursue professional musical careers.
