Ripon Cathedral

This vibrant, living church has an unbroken history reaching back to the 7th century serving the small city of Ripon and the vast rural county of North Yorkshire. Music and choirs enrich the services and remain at the centre of many acts of worship.

Our Choirs

Our Anglican Cathedral Choir sings six services per week during term-time. We have two separate treble lines, recruited from local schools, a teenage choral scholar scheme and six Lay Clerks.

  • The Boys and Lay Clerks sing Tuesdays and Thursdays (fortnightly); two Sunday services (fortnightly)
  • The Girls and Lay Clerks sing Wednesdays and Fridays (fortnightly); two Sunday services (fortnightly)
  • The Choral Scholars sing Wednesdays and two Sunday services (fortnightly)

Our Choristers

Our choristers benefit from a musical education second to none, which is free! Being a chorister offers children a life-changing opportunity, helping to improve resilience, self-discipline and self-confidence.

Rehearsals take place before or after school several days a week and parents/carers need to be willing to commit to the full choral schedule!

If your son or daughter loves singing and is interested in joining do get in touch using the details below.
