At RGS Prep, inclusivity and pastoral care are central to our mission of providing a well-rounded education that prepares boys for the future. As the choir school of Guildford Cathedral, we have a proud tradition of providing choristers for professional services, offering rigorous, first-class musicianship training. Our students also perform in a variety of concerts, services, festivals, competitions and galas, with many achieving distinctions in higher ABRSM Grades and joining county and national groups. Through our Maestro programme, we prepare our finest musicians for scholarships and future careers as professional musicians.
Our Choristers
The boy choristers of Guildford Cathedral Choir are educated at RGS Prep until the end of Year 6. From Year 7 they move to the Royal Grammar School Guildford. Boys are auditioned by the Organist and Master of the Choristers, Mrs Katherine Dienes-Williams, in Year 2 with a view to starting as probationer choristers in Year 3. This happens in conjunction with the school’s new boy assessments in November.
