Hereford Chorister Gets Taste of Radio Fame

Eight year-old Hamish Gamble enjoyed a brief taste of fame when he rang in to the Chris Evans Breakfast show on Radio 2 on Tuesday 10 January to say he would be singing in Evensong for the first time at Hereford Cathedral that evening.

The call formed part of the popular show’s ‘Kids Get a Fanfare’ item, in which children from the age of six to 11 can call in to tell the show’s host that they’re doing something for the first time.

After Hamish announced that he would be singing soprano, Chris Evans complimented the Year 4 pupil on his “lovely enunciation”.

Hamish returned to the show on Wednesday morning to report back on how his first Evensong went. He also sang an excerpt from Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus live on air!
