Thanks to a £2,500 grant from the Choir Schools’ Association, Norwich School successfully delivered its annual Choral Concert on 4 March 2026 at St John the Baptist Catholic Cathedral, bringing together almost 150 performers in a celebration of choral music.
The concert featured more than 110 singers, including pupils, alumni, parents, staff and community members aged from teenagers to over 80, alongside the professional musicians of Norwich Baroque. The programme included works by Eleanor Daley, Edgar Bainton, Mozart and Howard Goodall, with outstanding performances from pupil soloists and instrumentalists.
The grant played a vital role in keeping the event financially viable and accessible, allowing ticket prices to remain affordable with free admission for under-25s. Extensive publicity, including local press, radio interviews and social media, ensured strong attendance and prominent recognition of CSA’s support throughout the event.
Beyond the performance itself, the concert strengthened partnerships between the school, cathedral, professional musicians and the wider community, showcasing the value of intergenerational music-making and providing exceptional performance opportunities for young people.
Audience and sponsor feedback was overwhelmingly positive, praising the outstanding musical standards, the unique collaboration between amateur and professional musicians, and the event’s cultural importance. Norwich School expressed its sincere gratitude to the CSA, recognising that the grant was instrumental in making this much-loved annual concert possible.
