Grant Impact Report

Lichfield Cathedral School: MusicShare™ 20th Anniversary – Noye’s Fludde

Lichfield Cathedral School received a £2500 Grant to help cover the costs of rehearsals for the schools involved in Noye’s Fludde on the 10th and 11th November 2023 and extra singing sessions to the young soloists.

Pupils from two SEND schools (Queen’s Croft and Rocklands, Lichfield), plus Willows, Chadsmead, Highfields, St Michael’s and Stoneydelph Primary Schools were involved. Several of these schools have high pupil premium levels. There were over 200 participants each evening, showing the diverse range of MusicShare’s work which also included the MusicShare core choirs (Young Voices, Youth Voices and Ladies who Lark), the Alton Handbell ringers and an orchestra consisting of Cathedral School students and also professional leads.

The productions were well received. Peter Allwood (former Headteacher LCS) commented on the amazing opportunity for so many children to take part, and their clear enjoyment. He noted their confidence on stage and observed that it was a life-changing experience for everyone involved.

Guests also noted the “power of music to unite”, the positive impact on the children involved and the inclusivity of the occasion for all the children, but in particular the SEND students, who may never otherwise have experienced the building or the music.

Award value: £2500
