With the support of a grant from the CSA, Croydon Minster has sustained its partnership programme, reaching hundreds of pupils from two parish schools in deprived areas.
Each week, Singing Development Leader Sophie Garbisu leads assemblies and an auditioned choir in both schools. Last year, pupils performed at the Minster’s “What a Wonderful World” concert, singing music from over ten countries alongside the Minster choristers.
Additionally, she started an after-school piano club in one school, now oversubscribed.
Within the Minster, Sophie continues to provide singing tuition for over 70 choristers and choral scholars. Although transport issues have led to shorter midweek rehearsals and more challenging musical circumstances, we remain committed to nurturing the talents of our community’s young singers and look forward to expanding our outreach.
