Windsor defibrillator Installation

A Lifesaving Community Initiative from Windsor School Children

Students from St George’s School Windsor Castle attended the installation of a new community defibrillator, financed through a joint fundraising "Three Peaks Challenge" held within the private grounds of Windsor Castle.

Students from St George’s School Windsor Castle joined forces with Windsor Girls’ School in raising funds for a new community defibrillator, unveiled this month at the Royal Adelaide Hotel in Windsor. The device, now accessible to the public, is part of a wider effort by the Windsor Community Defibrillator Partnership (WCDP) to make lifesaving equipment available across the town.

The schools organised a creative and energetic fundraising event, a ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ held within the private grounds of Windsor Castle. Over just 45 minutes, children, teachers, and local community members covered the combined distance of the world’s three tallest mountains twice over—travelling 70,000 metres through cycling, skateboarding, hopping, and dancing.

The unveiling was attended by students from St George’s School Windsor Castle who are members of the school’s Junior Medics club. The club teaches students practical first aid skills, including the use of defibrillators, as part of St George’s mission to ensure its pupils are ‘Real World Ready’.

“This unveiling offered our Junior Medics an invaluable opportunity to see the direct impact of their efforts,” said Ally Onions, Junior Medics leader and Head of Safeguarding and Mental Health at St George’s School Windsor Castle. “Knowing that this critical piece of equipment was made possible through the dedication of our students, alongside Windsor Girls’ School and the WCDP, is truly heartwarming.”

Windsor Girls’ School’s Assistant Headteacher, Waqas Arbi, added: “We are delighted to have worked with St George’s to deliver this lifesaving resource. The defibrillator is now live and will serve the community for years to come.”

The WCDP, a collaborative group of local organisations, has now installed 25 defibrillators across Windsor. All devices are registered with emergency services to enable rapid response, and the partnership also promotes CPR awareness within the community.
